Strategy
Overview:
An E-Wrestling strategy is your plan for a specific card. A card is the wrestling event that you are participating in like Monday Night Raw or Smack Down. What you put in your strategy decides how your wrestler acts at the card. Each federation owner will have his own criteria for what you are allowed to request on a show. Think of a strategy as a wish list. If you ask for 10 things and get 5, be happy the owner is actually listening to you. If something happens to your character as a result of your strategy, talk to the owner, 9 times out of 10, the good ones will give you an explanation for what happened at the card. If an owner says he doesn’t have time, then it may be a signal that you need to move on.
In this section you will use tools that will help your wrestler come to life. Strategies, allow you, the handler, to customize your own entrances, crowd reactions, wrestling maneuvers, and SO much more! Submitting of a strategy will definitely improve your wrestler’s performance.
Entrance:
Coming into the ring is just as important as how you leave. It sets the tone for your character and really needs to be included when doing a strategy. I suggest watching RAW or Smack Down, write down the things you like about certain entrances, and then incorporate them into your own. Do you like fireworks? What type of music will you play? Will the lights be out or on? And how will you react to the crowd.
Now that you have gotten your wrestler from the curtain to the ring, it’s time to dress them. Again, appearance is everything and if you’re stuck, flip on the TV and look at some different styles of ring attire. Some things to consider are color, style of clothes, hair, and pretty much anything you find special about your wrestler. Dress them to be unique if you don’t want to be like the rest.
You’re dress and in the ring, now it’s time to determine if you will say anything to your opponent. Don’t be afraid to pick up the microphone for one last comment. Look into your opponent’s eyes or address the crowd by yourself, it’s up to you.
Now that you have said your peace, it’s time to get down to wrestling. Looking at your opponent’s attributes is critical because if you plan on power bombing a 400 pound animal, you’re not going to go very far. Big opponents should be taken off their feet neutralizing their power while smaller ones ought to be worn down to prevent an aerial assault. This is a good opportunity to find out if your finisher is even possible! Of course you can throw caution to the wind and slug out too.
The match has extended into the latter stages and it now that your character needs to do something special to win. Think about your valet getting involved. Consider cheating with a foreign object. Or what about hitting the referee to force a disqualification? You can even shock the world by having another handler help you in return for a favor. It’s called an interference request and the good handlers know when to pull the trigger and when not to. Finally, if you are going to request interference, be specific and above all, DO NOT request to beat up the entire roster in one night. Your actions on each show will carve and determine your character’s direction in the federation so just don’t do stuff for the hell of doing it. Have a reason, and follow through.
Conclusion:
In closing, the ideas on the card can make or break you in this hobby and the name of the game is to stand out. If you don’t do something interesting, then someone else will and you will be pushed down in the pecking order.
