How to Exit a Federation

Overview:
Exiting a federation is just as important as entering one. Why? Well at this point both you and the owner have invested time into character and a smooth transition will probably benefit both parties. On the owner’s side, it helps him with storylines and I your side, leaves the door open in case you ever want to return. The optimal time is about two shows to have your character fade into the sunset.

How to Give Notice:
Email the owner:
It’s not as personal but it’s something and should be more than acceptable. In your Email, include details of why, when and how you would like to exit. It’s also a good idea to give the owner some feedback as to some of the things you enjoyed about the federation. If done carefully, you can even give him pointers on what he could have done to make your experience better.

Instant Message the owner:
This is the most personal way to exit a federation and will give you a chance to get some one on one personal time with the person who invested his time in your character. Again, give your reason(s) whatever they may be and keep it positive. No one wants to hear a bunch of complaining during an exit interview.

Conclusion:
Overall, we think it’s important not to burn any bridges. Exiting a federation doesn’t have to be negative and a good owner will never hold it against you if done properly. Remember, you also may have made friends during your stay and it’s important you give them the same respect they gave you when you first entered.
